In the English Language Learning Design, Teaching and Technology course, students build on their previous teaching and learning design experience in the MAT – TESOL program in order to establish the skills they will need to become creative, competent and professional online English language instructors. This course has a practicum component and involves working together with peers to design and teach an online English language workshop.

This class will be made up of two complementary sets of activities: online instructional design for English language learners and online English language teaching. The course instructor and students will collaboratively design and lead a series of discussion groups and a month-long English workshop for their online field placement with a partner class of English language learners in the U.S. or abroad. The online teaching space, particularly in the area of language teaching, is growing in scale and legitimacy and some candidates may wish to work in this area.

Education doesn’t have to compete with technology, and technology can’t replace a good teacher. eLearning tools are for enhancing strong teaching. This is the foundation of Innovate, Ohio State’s conference on technology for teaching, learning and research. http://innovateu.osu.edu
