At Mercedes College we want learning to be relevant to the world students are growing up in. Often students know a lot about technology and the College recognises and values this expertise. That’s why the College started the IT Angels.

IT Angels are a group of girls who provide support to teachers and students in class with all aspects of technology. The group meet regularly to discuss technological challenges in the classroom and share ideas on solution and strategies to help solve problems.

“At Mercedes College we don’t want the students to just be consumers. We want them to be active creators,” explains Mr Paul Reid, Director of Learning Technology at the Perth based College.

A similar approach has been introduced for teachers. “Each term we offer teachers the support to develop their own skill sets. At the end of the term they share their skill sets with their colleagues.” says Mr Reid.
